Praying for a man

hindu-god.jpgIn Singapore we found a Hindu temple that we were told was for single women to pray for their man to appear. Since my two travel mates are also single, we thought this was a must do.

The temple was encircled with carvings of various gods with interesting characteristics. This handsome god guards the entrance.

However, some of the other gods had already been sent to me. I took a picture to show you, but it didn’t come out, so I’ll have to describe them.

One was a wolf-faced god with 4 arms. Yes, I’ve dated those wolves who apparently had four arms as they were all over me.

Another was what I dubbed “middle-aged god.” He had a protruding tummy. Now, icons of the Buddha have a belly and it is considered good luck to rub it. So perhaps my guys have really been good luck charms in disguise.

We lit three incense sticks and make a wish with each one, then stick them in a bowl of sand with others’ wish sticks. I don’t know what my mates wished for and I didn’t share mine either. Best they go directly to the gods without earthly interference.

So our adventure continues. The 3.5 days in Singapore included many fun events, including a visit to a Chinese doctor across the street from my hotel when I awoke in the middle of the night with chills and 102-degree temperature. He prescribed a foul-tasting concoction to be consumed once a day for 3 dasy. I nearly gag when downing it, but felt better within hours of the first dose.

We’re in India now — Delhi — having been joined by 11 more women for the two weeks here. Another 3 will join us en route. Today we go to Agra and tomorrow view the Taj Mahal at sunrise. It is supposed to be moving and spectacular and very romantic. I’ll report what I experience.

It sounds wonderful, count your blessings too. I wish I could be there with you all.

DG, a little over a year ago I decided at the new moon in Libra to do as an article suggested and put out a “wish list” for the perfect man. I sat the night before and really thought about what was important to me. I hadn’t even dated since my divorce 13 years before and I thought maybe it was time to put myself out there or face growing old alone since I’m 59 years old. I do have a few non-negotiables, but I decided I needed to think outside the box. So I made my list, wrote it out in a little book and lit a candle to send my request to the universe. Three days later Mr. Outside the Box asked me out for coffee after an event that I attend sporadically. We hit it off immediately and have been dating ever since. I don’t think I have ever known anyone who suits me as well as he does and he feels the same about me. And my list – he fits it to a T. Now I don’t think the Universe changed direction to cause us to find each other, but it was too coincidental not to think my little ritual at least planted the seed. May your seeds be blessed as your wishes go out to the universe DG – continue to think outside the box.

DG, When at the Taj Majal – just imagine it had been built to honor you by a man who truly appreciates you. That was the spirit with which it was conceived and built.
